Am I a good candidate for PMU?

    • Pregnant woman

    • Keloid scarring on your face or decolletage area ONLY

    • Active skin cancer in the area to be treated

    • Hemophilia

    Please note: I will not tattoo anyone under the age of 18 even with parental approval

    • Trichotillomania - requires a discussion with artist

    • Prescribed blood thinners ie. Aspirin - requires doctor’s permission to reduce/remove this medication for 7 days prior to treatment

    • Diabetes - Make sure your blood sugar levels are in range immediately before treatment, if you have any concerns please discuss with your doctor prior

    • Severe heart issues - requires a doctor's note prior to treatment

    • Chemotherapy - requires a doctor's note prior to treatment

    • Hyperpigmentation (lip treatments only) - email a photo of your lips to artist

    • Herpes/Cold sores (lip treatments only) - email artist for further advise, requires a doctor’s prescription to prevent/reduce any cold sore from developing after the treatment

    • Antibiotics/Steroids - must not be on a current course

    • Psoriasis/Dermatitis/Eczema (face only) - must not have a current flare up and understand these conditions can impact longevity of result

    • Active acne (treatment area only) - must be healed prior to treatment

    • Non prescribed blood thinners ie. alcohol, caffeine - avoid 24 hours prior to procedure, omega oils - discontinue 7 days prior

    • Skin medication/steroids ie. Accutane - must have discontinued this at least 6 months prior depending

    • Lash growth serum (eyeliner treatments only) - discontinue 4 weeks prior to eyeliner treatment

    • Botox (treatment area only)- avoid 2 weeks minimum before and after treatment

    • Filler (treatment area only) - avoid 2 weeks minimum before and after treatment

    • Microdermabrasion/peel - avoid 1 week minimum before and 2 weeks after treatment

    • Previous PMU (treatment area only)- contact artist to discuss/ send photos of treated area

    • Breastfeeding women - it is at your discretion. Please know there is limited research on lactating women. There is a big difference between breastfeeding a newborn vs. a toddler on 1-2 feeds per day

    • Thyroxine or thyroid related issues - impacts longevity of result

    • Epilepsy or seizures - please inform your artist

    Please inform us if you have had any negative reactions to anesthetic, we use lidocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine topically.

When considering this, it is important for you to understand that an artist is only as good as the canvas (skin) they are working on. Many medications can affect the skin and therefore our results, medications that; thin the skin, cause bleeding during treatment or affect the longevity of the result are called contraindications.
